Periodontal Disease
Periodontal Disease (better known as gum disease) affects a large percentage of our population. Typically, it is caused by poor brushing and flossing habits. If symptoms (bleeding or swollen gums are typical signs) are not treated and taken seriously, periodontal disease can cause serious complications inside your mouth. It may even be a factor in disease such as heart attack and stroke. The best defense against gum disease is a good offense – which means taking proper care of your teeth and gums on a daily basis. However, gum disease can strike at any time – and a 6-month check up is the best way to make sure it is detected early. In many cases, with early detection, Drs. Goodman & West can offer a variety of non-surgical periodontal treatments, medications, oral hygiene procedures and devices. In advanced cases, both Dr. Goodman & Dr. West are experienced in providing the necessary care, in the most comfortable way possible.
