Grinding Your Teeth at Night?
If so, you may have a condition known as Bruxism. Bruxism is involuntary grinding of the teeth, typically at night, and is frequently linked to emotional stress. Aside from the obvious 'flattened' teeth, Bruxism can also cause tired jaws and headaches. Although the best cure is finding and healing the source of emotional stress, Drs. Goodman or West may prescribe patients with a mouthguard to protect against tooth damage. Contact us today to find out more.
Cosmetic Imaging
Ever wish you could see what your teeth will look like after a specific cosmetic procedure? Well, now you can, before the procedure even takes place. And best of all, at Goodman & West, you can do it for FREE.

With our special cosmetic imaging procedure, current images of your mouth and teeth are captured via digital camera. The digital image is then altered and reconstructed using special software, showing you what your teeth will look like following the procedure. It's a great way to see how your specific concerns – such as discoloration, gaps, chipped or crooked teeth -can be addressed, before a corrective procedure takes place.

  • Check Ups, Cleanings & Examinations
Next to brushing and flossing regularly, consistent 6-month check ups may be the best way to keep your teeth and gums as healthy as possible. Aside from providing a thorough cleaning of plaque and tartar, our "soft-touch" examinations monitor periodontal disease, oral cancer and overall dental health. As with any medical condition, early detection is the key to a successful treatment.

    Fillings (mercury free)
Have a cavity? It's nothing to be ashamed of – it can happen to anyone. But proper detection and treatment is integral to maintaining the proper structure and function of your teeth. Luckily, Drs. Goodman & West offer a soft-touch approach that will restore the area of decay in the most gentle and comfortable way possible. Fillings are mercury free – and if aesthetics are a concern, a tooth-colored material will be used that is virtually undetectable in your mouth.

    Crowns
In some cases, we see patients that no longer have sufficient tooth structure left to place a filling. In these cases, a crown may be the best option. It's a tooth-like covering placed over a carefully prepared preexisting tooth. Crowns serve many functions, including strengthening, restoring or improving the appearance of your natural tooth. They're made of state-of-the-art, high-strength, metal-free material. From an aesthetic perspective, crowns won't affect your appearance. In most cases, they compliment the color of your existing teeth, eliminating dark areas at the gum line to ensure a natural appearance.

    Bridges
When one or more missing teeth need to be replaced, a bridge may be the best solution. It's a custom device anchored to neighboring teeth made from a wide variety of customizable materials. In most cases, the feel and function of natural teeth is completely restored. Plus, bridges are designed based on the color and shape of your mouth to ensure a completely natural aesthetic appearance.

    Invisalign Orthodontics
Do you have crowded, crooked or widely spaced teeth? Invisalign may be the discreet treatment – and clear alternative to metal braces – that you're looking for. Invisalign is a series of clear, removable aligners, that few people will even notice. It can even help with more complex issues such as overbites, underbites and crossbites. Unlike braces, Invisalign can be removed while you eat and brush your teeth.

Drs. Goodman & West are Invisalign certified – and experienced – providers, with the expertise and technology needed to provide you with a comfortable and customized treatment. Typically, patients will schedule check ups every 6-8 weeks, and be re-fitted with custom-molded aligners periodically. In most cases, Invisalign treatment will be complete in a year or less. If you would like to find out more about the Invisalign process, or if you would like to know if you're a candidate, contact us today.

    Dental Implants
There's nothing like your natural teeth. But in some cases, whether it's due to injury or disease, replacing missing teeth becomes a necessity. Dental implants have been used to do just that – replacing a single tooth, several teeth, or to support a full set of dentures. How do they work? By placing titanium cylinders in the upper or lower jaw that serve as anchors for replacement teeth, which are custom made based on a size, shape, color and fit that will match your existing teeth.

Are you a candidate for dental implants? If you're in good general health, free of chronic illness and a non-smoker, probably so. But we can tell you for sure. Simply contact us to schedule an initial consultation.

    TMJ Disorders
TMJ (Tempromandibular Joint) Disorder is a general term referring to a variety of problems associated with your complex jaw joint. It can present a distressing syndrome of pain, limited jaw movement, clicking, popping and crepitus (a grating sound similar to the crumbling sound of parchment paper) in the jaw joint. Some symptoms that may occur include headaches, muscle pain, ear pain, spasms of the head, neck, shoulder, and/or back dizziness, ringing and stuffiness in the ears, blurred vision, etc. Drs. Goodman & West are experienced in treating TMJ through a variety of methods. Our first and foremost goal always is to exhaust every non-surgical treatment option before recommending more involved measures.

    Periodontal Disease
Periodontal Disease (better known as gum disease) affects a large percentage of our population. Typically, it is caused by poor brushing and flossing habits. If symptoms (bleeding or swollen gums are typical signs) are not treated and taken seriously, periodontal disease can cause serious complications inside your mouth. It may even be a factor in disease such as heart attack and stroke.

The best defense against gum disease is a good offense – which means taking proper care of your teeth and gums on a daily basis. However, gum disease can strike at any time – and a 6-month check up is the best way to make sure it is detected early. In many cases, with early detection, Drs. Goodman & West can offer a variety of non-surgical periodontal treatments, medications, oral hygiene procedures and devices. In advanced cases, both Dr. Goodman & Dr. West are experienced in providing the necessary care, in the most comfortable way possible.

    Root Canal Therapy
You've probably heard the term (and feared it) often, but what exactly is a root canal therapy? Basically, it is treatment of the inner portion of the tooth occupied by 'pulp' tissue. Pulp tissue includes many nerves, but also arteries, veins, lymph vessels and connective tissues. Root canals have a bad reputation for pain, mainly because damaged or dead pulp can get infected, increasing blood flow to that area that produces pressure from inside the tooth.

The bad news? The tooth will not heal by itself – and without treatment, the infection will spread. If left unattended, the tooth itself may simply fall out. If you are experiencing pain or sensitivity from actions such as biting or chewing, Drs. Goodman & West can perform the necessary tests and recommend a therapy. If root canal therapy is necessary, we will conduct the procedure with your utmost comfort in mind through our soft-touch, painless procedures.

    Perio Protect
Perio Protect is a revolutionary new way to treat the bacteria that causes gum disease. Drs. Goodman & West are certified practitioners of this new technology, which can help a patient from the comfort of his/her own home.

The treatment consists of Perio Protect TraysT that are custom designed to a patient's teeth. The trays direct and deliver medications to the specific source of infection, and maintain flow for a sufficient amount of time. As the infection and bacteria subside, the frequency and duration that the patient wears the trays is reduced. The best part? The trays are comfortable to wear, and treatment has proven to be extremely rapid. Contact us today to learn if you might be a candidate for Perio Protect.
